MCD identifies 250 mosquito breeding hotspots in Delhi

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has identified 250 hotspots breeding mosquitoes at a large scale across the national Capital.

The Capital has recorded 638 cases of Dengue in the past week, according to the reports released by the MCD.

 MCD officials said that the corporation has identified around 250 hotspots where large scale breeding of mosquitos have been found in the city.

“Some of the areas where the mosquito breeding has been found are Gali No. 3, Ambedkar Nagar, A4 Kothi near MCD Primary School, Gali No. 1 and 2, Sri Nagar, C Block, Omkar Nagar, Macchli Market, Chander Shekhar Azad Colony, Wazirpur Industrial Area, 1, B and D Block, Jailer Wala Bagh Huts, Ashok Vihar, Phase-ll, K and L Block, JJ Colony, Wazirpur, B Block, Derawal Nagar, MIG, LIG, HIG Motia Khan, Arya Nagar Paharganj,” he informed.

“F-Block Sudershan Park, B- Block Mansaroover Garden, 16 Block East Punjabi Bagh, Old Ranjeet Nagar, A-Block Pandav Nagar, C Block, Aman Vihar, B and E Block, mangol puri, K Block, Prem nagar-ll,” officials said.

While informing about the action taken by the corporation to destroy the mosquito breeding in the area, he said, “In Garhi area, Unauthorized construction and water storage practices were found the sources of the breeding, the civic body has taken various steps including temporary malaria clinics, management with Mohalla leaders, Extensive fogging etc to fight the disease.

“In Jal Board Pump house area, haudis were present where the corporation is constantly doing vector surveillance and awareness measures by staffs,” he said.

 

“In R K Puram, Sector- 8 and 9, the breeding was taking place in the coolers and the uncovered Over head tanks, the MCD has covered all the OTHs and conducting awareness activities on regular basis,” he said.

 

 “Special focus is being given to large water bodies and drains which are being covered by power spray tankers and motorized pumps in all 12 zones. Corporation has conducted 2.61 crore house visits by Domestic breeding checkers (DBC) workers and 1,30,544 houses were found positive for breeding and 11,88,282 number of houses have been covered by fogging,” he said.
