Sunday, 02 October 2022 | Staff Reporter | RAIPUR

In an appeal to the people of Chhattisgarh, Health and Family Welfare Department Secretary Prasanna R on Saturday said blood donation is a great service and a noble cause to the society and humanity.

He was speaking on the occasion of the National Voluntary Blood Donation Day after himself donating blood along with National Health Mission Director Bhoskar Vilas Sandipan at the Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Memorial Hospital here.

Professor Dr. Arvind Neral, Head of Pathology Department, also donated blood -- for the 119th time in his life.

Prasanna said people needed to volunteer in large numbers and also motivate their friends, relatives and colleagues to donate blood.

A person has 5 to 6 liters of blood in his body. He can donate blood once every three months. The campaign objective is to create      awareness on voluntary blood donation on a regular basis. Various government and non-governmental organizations organized blood donation camps.

Sandipan underlined that blood cannot be        manufactured with any machine. Millions of lives can be saved if blood is donated. Any person whose age is between 18 and 65 years and weighing more than 45 kg can donate blood.
