‘Ensure social, legal rights of Dibyangs’

On the International Day of Deaf, Blind, the Child and Women Development Society in association with the Orissa Association for the Blind and JSPL Foundation organised a State level workshop on "Legal rights and access to justice for people with disabilities" here.

In the inaugural function, president, Orissa Association for Blind, Sannyashi Kumar Behera gave the welcome address .Vice Chancellor of National Law University Prof (Dr) Ved Kumari joining as the chief guest, said, “We should not say them disable. If we ensure their social and legal rights, they can flourish and add to social development.”

MLA Bhubaneswar (Central) Ananta Narayan Jena joined as guest of honour and called upon the society to lend a helping hand for the upliftment of the Dibyangs. The workshop was divided into two technical sessions and its main objective was to uplift the Dibyangs by providing all the social and legal rights.

In the valedictory function, Chief Justice of Orissa High Court Prof Justice S Muralidhar joined as chief guest.

Chairman CWDS Maj Dr Kalpana Das presided. About 200 participants, who are visually, speech and hearing-impaired were present.
