‘Kolhan Govt Estate' episode is money minting illegal activity: ADG

Saturday, 29 January 2022 | M FAIYAZ AHMAD | DALTONGANJ

Additional Director General of Police (OPS) Sanjay Anand Lathkar, who was named for the President's Medal for his distinguished service on the eve of the Republic Day gave his candid opinion about things happened in Jharkhand in the last few weeks in quick succession.

The ADG (Ops) spoke about the Kolhan Government Estate episode, return of the extremism in Jharkhand, surrender of Pramanik,  naxals facing crunch of cadres etc without mincing any word.

On the 'Kolhan Government Estate' episode Lathkar said that it is nothing but only a move to earn fast bucks by some lumpen elements. He said these lumpen elements were preparing false papers for giving jobs and gullible people just believed them.

On being asked asked that there was a jawan also from the CRPF indulging in nefarious activities in the name of the Kolhan Government Estate, Lathkar said the jawan was a deserter. He was in the CRPF Latehar. He deserted his battalion all for big and easy money.

Lathkar said this jawan has given his side of version that he was assured of double his salary here say one lakh per month and so he severed his association with his unit of the battalion and came here now only to face the heat of the law of the land.

On January 23 there broke out a clash between the police and the followers of the Kolhan Government Estate mostly tribal in Jharkhand. Sources said the situation could have escalated but for a swift and preventive measure things just could not go out of control then.

Sources said the incident was painted as one of revolt against the present State administration. Sources said it was more a winter of discontent and not any rebellion or alienation at all.

The ADG (Ops) said there was no such thing even remotely like that of revolt or secession etc at all but a simple thuggery and cheating going on there which the police foiled and aborted.

Lathkar denied there is any revival or resurgence of the left wing extremism in the state when his attention was drawn to naxal violence occurring at places like Chaibasa, Lohardaga, Giridh,  Bokaro etc.

He said there is no return to extremism in the state. What the extremists are doing here and there is their own survival show, he added.

Referring to the latest Bokaro district Gomia police station encounter with the Maoists Lathkar said luck favoured the Maoists otherwise they could have suffered much there.

The contingent of 'Barka Da' was said to be there in the region of the Lugu Pahar in Bokaro where took place an exchange of fire between the rebels and the security forces.

He said rebels are indulging in inane activities just to show 'They are here and can't be written off'.

The ADGP (Ops) said the surrender of Pramanik is a big blow to the extremism here as it will help keep many from joining the outfit knowing how life takes a turn for good at the end.

Lathkar with his latest President's Police Medal award has so far bagged 8 awards  and numerous others appreciations and commendations all through his career which spans in states like Bihar, Maharashtra, Jharkhand police and CRPF as well.
