‘Make Bhubaneswar zero-fatality zone’

Speaking at the “Commit to Act Streets for Life Week of Action 2022”, a stakeholders’ engagement programme conceptualised by the SAFE India here on Sunday, speakers stressed on making Bhubaneswar a zero-fatality zone.

State Road Safety Alliance chairman and president of SAFE India Dillip Kumar Panda called for making all schools safe. He said the driving speed should be 20 km/hr around schools and hospitals. He also explained the role of civil societies and road safety NGOs. Bhubaneswar Mayor Sulochana Das emphasized on concerted actions to reduce road mishaps. She expressed concern over the 5,000 road crash deaths that occur every year in the State and explained the impact on the family of the death victims.

Among others, Sanjay Biswal, Bhubaneswar RTO-1 Bikash Choudhury, RTO-II Biranchi Narayan Adhikari  and Additional DCP-Traffic, Commissionerate Police Dr KK Panigrahi spoke. Civil Defence volunteer Nikhil, who has done extraordinary job by saving lives in road crashes, was felicitated by the Mayor on behalf of State Road Safety Alliance and SAFE India.
