‘Protect Dhinkia villagers: Left parties to DGP

A delegation of 11 Left and secular parties on Wednesday met DGP SK Bansal and submitted a charter of demands pertaining to the situation in Dhinkia and adjoining villages in proposed JSW Steel project area.

The delegation stated how they were not allowed to enter Dhinkia on May 4. Company officials and pro-project villagers resisted them and argued with them, for which they had to return to Bhubaneswar.

They urged the DGP to intervene to protect the people of Dhinkia who are protesting against the project.

The delegation also drew attention of the DGP on the issues of arrest of Puri Sipasarubali movement leader Btakrushna Swain who is booked under the NSA and plight of Home Guards sitting in dharna in Bhubaneswar.

The delegation included Santosh Das (CPI(M)), Jayanta Das (CPI), Mahendra Parida (CPI(ML)-Liberation), Jyoti Ranjan Mohapatra (Forward Bloc), Ranga Charan Pradhan (AAP), Sudarsan Pradhan (SP), Srikant Mohanty (CPI(ML) and Pramila Behera (CPI(ML) Redstar).
