10 year old girl writes book on the unsung heroine of freedom Saraswati Rajamani

Sunday, 14 August 2022 | Staff Reporter | Bhopal

We are completing 75 years of independence and the country is celebrating 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav'. This freedom has been achieved due to years of struggle, dedication, valour and sacrifice.

This includes the sacrifices of many such revolutionaries and freedom fighters, about whom either little is known or we are completely unaware. Two 10-year-old daughters have written a book on one such personality who endangered her life for the country. Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today released the book 'Saraswati Rajamani - Ek Bhuli-Bisri Jasoos' written by these daughters after planting saplings with them. Chief Minister Chouhan extended best wishes and blessings to both of them for a bright future.

In 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav', Devyani and Shivranjani introduce India's youngest female detective, Saraswati Rajamani, through their book. Devyani and Shivranjani are twin sisters. At the age of just 10, they have written an illustrated book on the detective Saraswati Rajamani of the Azad Hind Fauj. All its pictures have been made by both the girls together. Devyani and Shivranjani say ‘At the time when the country is celebrating the Amrit Mahotsav of Independence, we should also remember those people, about whom not much has been written or read, who are our unsung heroes / heroines.

Those who have an important contribution in getting freedom, but we are not aware.’ In the year 2021, the first book of these girls 'Surya Namaskar' was published, which was appreciated by the former President of the country Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Saraswati Rajamani was a spy of the Azad Hind Fauj and an anonymous revolutionary at a very young age. She had greatly influenced Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose and a big threat for the British. Saraswati Rajamani was born into an affluent and patriotic family in Burma. When she was 16, she was so impressed by Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose's speech that she donated all her ornaments to the Azad Hind Fauj.

Netaji could not believe this and went to meet Saraswati Rajamani.

Seeing Rajamani's courage and passion, Netaji made her a part of the army. Rajamani, along with her friend Durga, spied on the British camp and gave much important information to the Azad Hind Fauj. During this, on many occasions, she showed her valour but could not get respect in her own country. Devyani and Shivranjani say that Saraswati Rajamani's life inspires young Indians to realise their dreams with patriotism, dedication, bravery, loyalty, charity and without any fear.
