Additional Chief Secretary (Medical and Health) Amit Mohan Prasad said that 16,016 fresh coronavirus positive cases were reported in Uttar Pradesh on Friday with three COVID-19 deaths during the same period.
He said that in the last 24 hours, 2,554 people recovered from novel coronavirus infections.
“There are 84,440 active cases of COVID-19 in the state and 82,412 of them are in home isolation,” Prasad said.
Three COVID-19 patients, including two in Meerut and one in Gautam Buddha Nagar districts, died during the last 24 hours.
The highest 2,209 fresh COVID-19 cases were reported from Lucknow where the total number of active cases has gone up to12,195 -- the highest in the state. It is followed by Ghaziabad with 1,887 fresh cases, Gautam Buddha Nagar with 1817 and Meerut 1,203 fresh cases.
Prasad said that the Covid vaccination was being carried out at a fast pace and a total of 24,91,529 doses were given on Thursday.
So far, a total of 21,86,29,035 doses have been given to people above 18 years of age.
He said that so far 43,55,278 first doses of Covid vaccine had been given to adolescents in the 15-18 age group -- 31.08 per cent of their estimated number. He said that 2,69,636 precaution doses had also been given so far.
