The Chhattisgarh State Election Commission on Friday approved 18 documents for identity of voters for the three-tier panchayat election scheduled on January 20.
These include the electoral photo identity card (EPIC) issued by the Election Commission, pass book of post office/bank, passport, PAN card, Aadhaar card, identity card issued by the Central government, public sector units or by authorities, pension documents, MGNREGA job card, Health Insurance Scheme Card, driving license and freedom fighter identity card.
Similarly, marksheet with photograph of Class 10/12, identity card issued by the Bar Council, disability certificate with photograph, ration card issued by the state government, college/school identity card, armed license with photograph and online generated voter identity slip issued by State Election Commission can be used for the identity, stated an official communication.
State Election Commissioner Thakur Ram Singh said that for the three-tier general and by-election, there were 733 candidates for 33 posts of panch, 455 candidates for 152 Sarpanchs, 88 candidates for 27 Janpad members and 12 candidates for three posts of Zila Panchayats.
A total of 1,066 polling centres have been set up. Each polling booth will have one health worker and two security personnel.
Different colour ballot papers will be used for Panch (white), Sarpanch (blue), Janpad member (yellow) and Zila Panchayat (Pink) posts.
