2 dozen students injured as dumper hits school bus

About two dozen students were injured when their school bus was hit by a dumper on Lucknow-Prayagraj highway and later rammed into a tree on Thursday morning.

Reports said that the school bus of Chinmaya School, NTPC Unchahar, was going to drop children in Kunda on Thursday morning when a dumper coming from Prayagraj hit it after which the driver lost control over the wheel and the bus rammed into a tree in Nawabganj area of Pratapgarh, a little before the Brahmauli intersection on Prayagraj-Lucknow highway.

The local residents passing through the area immediately informed the police and helped the cops to shift the injured children to hospital in Unchahar.

Bus driver Ansar was also injured.

Meanwhile, the family members also reached there in panic. Due to serious injuries to five children, their family members took them to Kunda for treatment. The seriously injured children included 14-year-old Jaina, 16-year-old Deepti Patel, 15-year-old Ankit, 16-year-old Aslan and 13-year-old Shreyansh Vishwakarma.

The other injured children were identified as Mohammad Waris (10), Saraswat Shukla (17), Najam Farooqui (11), Anay Singh (13), Ankit (15), Shikab (13), Nikunj (15), Bharat Jaiswal (14), Suchita (8), Prakhar Vishwakarma (15), Arabiya Ansari (14), Abdullah (14), Namo Shri (12), Pari Singh, Aslan and Krish Jaiswal. Driver Ansar Hussain (55 years) fractured his hand.

A case was registered in this regard and further investigations are on.

In another accident in Malikpura village under Jawan police station in Aligarh, a girl student going to school died after being hit by a tractor.

After the accident, the driver managed to escape leaving the tractor behind.

Durgesh (12), daughter of Harishankar of Malikpura, was a Class V student in a private school. She was the youngest of three siblings. As usual, on Thursday morning, she was standing outside the village waiting for the vehicle to reach school when a tractor-trolley laden with manure coming from behind at a high speed hit Durgesh, killing her on the spot.

Agitated over the death of the girl, the local residents created a ruckus, demanding action against the driver. The police pacified the villagers by assuring them of action.

Inspector Jitendra Kumar said that the tractor-trolley had been seized and raids were conducted to nab the driver.

Meanwhile in Fatehpur, a middle-aged woman, who was grazing cattle, died on the spot after being hit by a speeding, uncontrolled car near Garima Cold Storage in Amauli Marg.

Reports said that 46-year-old Geeta Devi, wife of Ramdhani of Kalana village under Jehanabad police station, was grazing cattle with her husband near the cold storage on Amauli Marg, when a speeding car going from Jehanabad to Amauli hit her, killing her on the spot.

In Lakhimpur Kheri, a kanwariya, who was going from Shahjahanpur to Gola Gokarannath, was hit by a motorcycle and sustained serious injuries. He later died in the hospital.

Agitated over the death, the fellow kanwariyas blocked the highway and accused the police of forcibly lifting the dead body, The victim was identified as Brajesh Kumar (30) of Miranpur Katra under Tilhar police station of Shahjahanpur.
