The third edition of the inter-district rugby competition concluded at Gwalior on Wednesday. Thirty four teams from various districts of Madhya Pradesh had participated in the three day tournament. The tournament was held under the aegis of the Gwalior District Rugby Association.
The Chief Guest of the closing ceremony was Prof Deepak Pandey, Additional Director, Department of Higher Education, Government of Madhya Pradesh. Keshav Pandey, President of the Gwalior District Rugby Association presided over the function.
Abrar Ahmed, secretary of the State Rugby Association and noted social activist, Rajendra Mudugal participated as Special Guests of the event.
During the closing ceremony medals and certificates were awarded to the winners in the various categories. Dewas was the winner of the Junior Girls Section while Shajapur was the runner-up. The third place went to Sehore. Likewise Dewas were the champions in the Junior Boys section while the second and third places went to Mandsaur and Shajapur respectively.
In the Senior Women’s section Raisen were the winners while the second and third places went to Indore and Shajapur respectively.
In the senior Men’s section the first prize went to Dewas while Khandwa and Shajapur won the second and third places respectively. All the winners were given cash prizes by former cabinet minister, Anup Mishra. Secretary of the Gwalior District Rugby Association, Bhupendra Kanth gave the vote of thanks.
