465 vehicles’ FCs cancelled --For nonfunctional lights, non-reflective tapes

Thursday, 12 May 2022 | PNS | CUTTACK

The Transport Department has launched a drive against

transport vehicles which openly disregard Motor Vehicle (MV) rules

and have nonfunctional tail lights, headlight or retro reflective tapes.

During a surprise check, fitness certificates (FCs) of 465 vehicles

were cancelled and 350 vehicles were issued challans across the State.

A special drive was carried out against such vehicles from 8 pm of

Tuesday to 6 am of Wednesday by the STA’s enforcement squad.

Retro reflective tapes are compulsory in commercial vehicles as per

rule. Using these tapes reduces the safety risk at night and in times of

low visibility.

As many as 2,468 vehicles were checked during the special drive out

of which 406 had defective tail lamps, 34 were found with defective

headlights and 128 had defective retro reflective tapes.

The drive was extensively carried out in regions having industrial and

mining activities.
