5 of a family dead as car rams into truck

Five of a family, including two children, died while six others were injured when their speeding car rammed into a stationary truck on Bulandshahr-Meerut highway on Tuesday morning.

The family members were en route to Kedarnath shrine in Uttarakhand when the accident took place in Gulawathi area of Bulandshahr around 4.30 am. Eleven members of the family were travelling in a Mahindra Scorpio MUV that hit the truck, leading to the death of two children, a woman and two men on the spot. Three of the injured were referred to a medical college in Meerut.

DM of Bulandshahr Chandra Prakash and SSP Santosh Kumar later rushed to the accident site and supervised relief measures. The deceased were identified as Hardik (6), Vansh (5), Shalu (21), Himanshu (25) and Paras (22). Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath condoled the loss of lives in the accident and directed officials to ensure the best treatment for the injured.

Elsewhere in Unnao, a speeding double-decker bus suddenly overturned on Agra-Lucknow Expressway in Auras police circle, in which more than 10 passengers were injured early on Tuesday morning.

Of the 10 injured, the condition of three was stated to be critical while one succumbed to his injuries. The injured were shifted to the Trauma Centre of KGMU in Lucknow.

Meanwhile in Firozabad, a 14-year-old boy died after the wall of a house collapsed when strong winds and rains lashed Chitrai village in Pachokhara police station area on Monday. The teenager identified as Yash Choudhary was leaning against the wall of a house which  collapsed upon him due to the impact of strong winds. Yash sustained a head injury and was rushed to Trauma Centre of Firozabad Medical College in critical condition, where he succumbed later.

Similarly, two children and a woman were killed and three others injured in two incidents of wall collapse due to heavy rains in Sitapur on Monday night. The first incident took place at Amtamau village in Misrikh area, where two children — Sudama (1) and Keshakali (3) — were killed when a wall collapsed due to heavy rains. The children’s mother and elder sister were also injured in the incident and were admitted to a hospital in Misrikh. The second incident was reported from the Hargaon police station area, where Phoolmati (66) died and her granddaughter was injured after the wall of her house collapsed.
