8th International Yoga Day celebrated at AIIMS Bhopal

To mark the 8th International Day of Yoga (IDY), a programme was organized under the aegis of Department of AYUSH, All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Bhopal. Chief Guest P Narahari, Secretary of Industries, Secretary of MSME, Managing Director of MarkFed, Government of Madhya Pradesh,Dean (Academics) Prof. (Dr) Rajesh Malik, Medical Superintendent Prof (Dr) Manisha Srivastava, Deputy Director (Admin) Col Ajit Kumar, Deputy Medical Superintendent Major Dr Mayank Dixit, Senior Medical Officer (AYUSH), Dr Danish Javed and manydoctors, employees & students of the Institute were participated in this event. The entire program was moderated by Dr Mudda Sofia, Medical Officer (Yoga).

Dean (Academics) Prof (Dr) Rajesh Malik welcomed the Chief Guest Shri. P. Narahari with a bouquet and a memento. P Narahari while addressing the gathering on the occasion of 8th IDY said that yoga should be an integral part of our daily routineto keep the body and mind healthy and by practicing yoga regularly one can improve the quality of life.

Around 300 participants - doctors, nursing faculty, staff and all the medical and nursing students of the institute observed 8thInternational Day of Yoga by practicing Common Yoga Protocol (CYP) under the supervision of Dr Shweta Mishra. Dr. VarunMalhotra, Associate professor Dept. of physiology conducted a guided meditation session.

Medical Superintendent Prof. (Dr) Manisha Srivastava emphasized on the integration of yoga with modern medicine. Various programs were organized from first week of June on the theme of "Yoga for Humanity" at AIIMS Bhopal. She appreciated the series of eventsconducted by the Department of AYUSH.

Dean Academics Prof. (Dr) Rajesh Malik in his address told that yoga is being practiced since ancient times for the harmony of body and mind. Anyone can enhance theirimmunity through yoga. The importance of yoga at the community level during the time of COVID is a living example. He himself took a vow to make yoga a part of his daily routine.

From the first week of June, various yoga and meditation sessions were organized at AIIMS Bhopal for medical and nursing students, nursing officers, security personnel, Housekeeping staff, faculty and their family members. In this sequence, essay competition, poster and online slogan competitions were organized based on the topic of "Yoga for Humanity".

Workshop on Recent Research trends in yoga and naturopathy was also conducted on different topics which were delivered by Dr. PadminiTekur, Dr. BabitaRaghuwanshi, Dr. Pradeep Nair, Dr. VarunMalhotra, Mrs. BhavnaAharwar along with Y-Break (Yoga at Work Place) for faculty and staff.

Ms. Nibha Kumari, Ms. Mysha Fatima, Ms. MuskanBhati, Mrs. Kokila C etc. were awarded by Chief Guest, Shri. P. Naraharifor wining various competitions conducted on occasion of 8th IDY. Dr. RanjanaPandey, Dr. Ashish Dixit, Dr. TariqueBarkati were present on this occasion. Dr. Danish Javed gave vote of thanks and concluded the program.
