The Odisha police have made elaborate security arrangements for peaceful and smooth celebrations of the Durga Puja festival across the State.

As many as 230 platoons of police force in addition to district police personnel would be deployed to maintain law and order, regulation of traffic and crowd control throughout the State during the wee-long celebrations.

In particular, additional security forces have been deployed in Cuttack (50 platoons), Bhubaneswar (40), Baleswar (19), Bhadrak (13), Rourkela (11) and Sambalpur (eight) to assist district police in maintaining law and order during the festive season.

ADGP (Law and Order) RK Sharma said adequate security arrangements are being made in sensitive areas to ensure hassle-free celebration of Durga Puja,  Dussehra, Ravan Podi and idol immersion in the State.

The SPs and the DCPs have been instructed to keep an eye on communal fanatics, anti-socials, criminals, mischief mongers, for smooth culmination of the festival. Puja organisers have been asked by the police to install CCTV cameras in the pandals from safety and security point of view, said Sharma.
