Bollywood actress and Indian model Preeti Jhangiany and actor and director Praveen Dabas here on Saturday jointly inaugurated the Gwalior Arm Wrestling Academy at the JC Mill School campus in Birla Nagar, Gwalior.

The inauguration function was also attended by Gwalior Municipal Commissioner, Kishore Kanyal IAS; Vice- Chancellor of LNIPE, Prof. Vivek Pandey; Registrar of Jiwaji University, Sushil Manderia; Opposition Leader of GMC, Devendra Tomar; President of the Gwalior Rotary Club, Shankar Laha and BJP Leader, Ashish Pratap Singh among others.

Welcoming the guests, President of the Gwalior Arm Wrestling Federation, Keshav Pandey opined that the association of the Bollywood stars, Preeti Jhangiany and Praveen Dabas with the Gwalior Arm Wrestling Federation will go a long way in popularizing arm wrestling among people, especially the youth.

Founder of Gwalior Arm Wrestling Federation, Praveen Singh Jadon said that the federation was founded in 1993 and since then has been engaged in popularizing and promoting this sport. He added that it is a matter of great satisfaction and pride that wrestlers from Gwalior, Sachin Goyal and Manish Maurya got many medals in the national and international levels. He thanked Preeti Jhangiany and Praveen Dabas for giving their valuable time and energy for this game.

Preeti Jhangiany in her address said that very soon Gwalior will become a hub of arm wrestling.

Secretary of the Gwalior Arm Wrestling Federation, Deepak Tomar gave a detailed report about the various activities of the federation. Gwalior Municipal Commissioner, Kishore Kanyal, in his address said that he has been pleasantly surprised by the enthusiasm and passion of the people of Gwalior towards sports and games. He also pointed out that wrestlers Sachin and Manish are the brand ambassadors of the cleanliness campaigns of the GMC.
