Adulterated spice unit busted; 2 held

Sunday, 23 January 2022 | PNS | CUTTACK

The Commissionerate police on Saturday unearthed an adulterated spice manufacturing unit at Jagatpur of Cuttack and detained two people in this connection.

Acting on a tipoff over production of spices like substandard turmeric and chilli, the Jagatpur police conducted a raid on the unit and stumbled upon a huge quantity of packaged adulterated turmeric and chili powder.

Raw materials, labels of some reputed brands and machinery used in the processing of spices were seized. Preliminary investigation revealed that the manufacturing had been going on in the factory for quite some time.

The unit was supplying adulterated spices to the markets in and around Cuttack, including the Malgodown. The fake products were also being supplied to some neighbouring districts. Interrogation of the owner and staffs was on.
