Agri Secy directs banks to provide KCC benefits to farmers

In an attempt to provide help to farmers from the prevailing drought like situation in the State, Secretary, Agriculture Animal Husbandry and Cooperation, Abu Bakr Siddiqui, on Monday, has instructed all the banks that any farmers, whether they are involved in agriculture, animal husbandry, milk, fish production, should be given the benefits of KCC in view of the drought, instructions have also been given to verify the beneficiaries PM Kisan Yojana under this.

 

Siddiqui was giving instructions to the senior officials of NABARD and various banks in the second meeting of the Sub-Committee on Agriculture and Allied Activities of the State Level Bankers Committee in the auditorium of Nepal House in the year 2022-23. The Jharkhand Agriculture Loan Waiver Scheme was also reviewed during the meeting. Siddiqui asked the officials of the bank to review their branch wise plan at the district level, and give a certificate to the farmers under the scheme of the State Government. “The loans that were to be forgiven have been forgiven. Under the Agriculture Infrastructure Fund, the beneficiary submitted the plan proposal, that proposal was screened and approved by the PMU of the Government of India, although the bank has not provided loans to the beneficiaries yet, the departmental secretary expressed displeasure. He said that new FPOs formed in Jharkhand should be given fertilizer licenses,” he added.

 

The Secretary expressed displeasure over the term loan given to farmers other than KCC not in line with the target. The Department’s Secretary also said that the achievement of some banks in the first quarter is not satisfactory; they should achieve a 100 per cent target in the coming time.

 

Agriculture Director Nesha Oraon, Special Secretary Pradeep Hazare, Directorate level officials, CGM of NABARD and senior officials of various banks were present in the meeting.
