A day after the Bhubaneswar JMFC Court turned down the bail plea of honey-trapper Archana Nag, she on Thursday approached the Khordha District and Sessions Judge Court here seeking bail in connection with the case registered against her by film producer Akshay Parija for blackmailing him.
In another elated development, the Bhubaneswar Additional District Judge (ADJ) Court II rejected the bail petition of Archana’s husband Jagabandhu Chand. Jagabandhu was arrested for allegedly operating an extortion racket targeting rich and influential people.
Meanwhile, an hotelier Siba Prasad Das appeared before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) here on the day after he was summoned by the agency. Accompanied by his lawyer, Das reached the ED office to face questioning in the case.
As per some sources, Das’ name cropped up in the case after the ED, probing the money trail in the case, ascertained that the hotel owned by Das was used by Archana and her associate Shradhanjali Behera. Many deals of the honey trap racket were allegedly struck at the hotel. Besides, there were some financial dealings between Archana and Das.
Earlier on Wednesday, the ED had grilled Archana’s aide Khageswar Patra’s associate Abhinash Priyadarshi for more than 12 hours.
