Protesting against the Agnipath scheme for army recruitments, hundreds of job aspirants from various parts of south Odisha congregated here on Saturday and took out a procession from the Medical ground to the RDC office, before which they staged a demonstration shouting slogans against the Central Government for deceiving millions of youths in the country.
Addressing the rally, student leader Eju Amin Khna accused the Modi Government of adopting double standards in providing employment to youths. During the elections, the BJP leaders had promised heaven, but in practice they squeezed job opportunities in all Central Government departments and public undertakings, he said.
The youth leaders alleged that thousands of unemployed youths in Ganjam district in particular and south Odisha in general are waiting for army recruitments as many among them have already qualified in physical and other tests. Besides, NCC-certified aspirants are waiting for job calls, but the newly-announced Agnipath scheme would spoil their chances.
Among others, Kamraju Reddy, Amit Kumar Sahu, Bichitrananda Pradhan, Srinivas Reddy and Simanchal Behera spoke and demanded immediate withdrawal of the Agnipath scheme.
