The Khaira police arrested a married man who duped an Odia girl in Mumbai by concealing his marriage in village under Khaira
block in Baleswar district.
The accused identified as Narendra Bidanta of Natapada village under Khaira police station had ditched the victim after knowing that she was pregnant and absconded from Mumbai.
The police took action after a complaint was lodged by the victim who had rushed to Narendra’s village recently only to be shocked by the fact that Narendra was married already and has a 6-year-old son.
Reportedly, Narendra was working in a private company in Mumbai where he met with the victim, a resident of Rayagada district. Narendra, however, developed intimacy with her by concealing the fact of his marriage. Later, they were involved in physical relationship as Narendra had promised to marry her. They also tied knot in a Shiva temple in Rayagada, the native place of the victim, in the presence of her family, alleged the victim in her FIR.
Yet, the victim, after finding no reason for the disappearance of Narendra from Mumbai, came to Khaira and knew the fact from the villagers. With the help of some local social workers and women organisations, she lodged a complaint at the Khaira police station, added reports.
