The sleuths of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested the branch manager of Union Bank of India in Azamgarh red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000 for sanctioning loan on Kisan Credit Card.
The trap was laid on Saturday and the CBI brought the accused to Lucknow and produced him in the court, after which he was sent to jail.
Reports said that one Hari Om Pratap Singh, a resident of Bhadaura, Azamgarh, had complained to the Anti-Corruption Branch of CBI, Lucknow that he had applied for a loan of Rs 3 lakh on Kisan Credit Card at the Shahpur branch of the Union Bank of India. He alleged that bank manager Dharmendra Kumar had demanded a bribe of Rs 20,000 for sanctioning the loan.
When the CBI found the complaint true, a plan was made to trap the branch manager of the bank. A CBI team went to Azamgarh from Lucknow and sent Hari Om Pratap to meet the branch manager and pay him the demanded money. As soon as branch manager Dharmendra Singh took the bribe money in his hand, the CBI team present nearby caught him red-handed.
He was later brought to Lucknow and a case was registered against him before producing him in the designated court.
