The Vigilance police on Saturday raided the office and houses of Jaleswar BDO Ashwini Kumar Das on the charge of accumulating properties disproportionate to his known sources of income.
A Vigilance team searched Das’ properties in Baleswar, Kendrapada and Cuttack districts.
During searches, properties worth crores including 24 plots, one triple-storied building worth Rs 1.22 crore at Kalapada and one double-storied building valued at Rs 1.10 crore at Srikrushna Vihar in Jhinkiria under Baiyalish Mouza in Cuttack and one brick kiln at Kalapada were found in possession of the BDO.
Besides, 330 grams of gold jewellery, 1.1 kg of silver jewellery, cash of Rs 1.70 lakh, four four-wheelers and three two-wheelers were also detected.
Das was found with total assets worth over Rs 5.07 crore. Further investigation was underway.
