Bibek Bora looks to impart skill training

Tuesday, 27 September 2022 | SR | Bhopal

Entrepreneurship in India is gaining pace steadily, and is surely innovating and growing on its own feet. India became the third largest startup ecosystem in the world after 21 of it’s startups achieved unicorn status. While the government is trying their best to promote the startup culture in the country it is still not able to implement the basic necessities which a startup requires.

Skill development, innovation and fund raising are the biggest challenges in the start-up arena and while the government has time to time addressed these issues it has never been able to find a tangible solution for the same.

Therefore this led to the rise of social entrepreneurs in the country which not only work to resolve social issues but also help other startups to grow. One such social entrepreneur is the spotlight of this article today.

Bibek Bora, a young social entrepreneur from Jorhat district of Assam whose main interests are empowering women & youth in the field of skill development and exploring the various sectors of rural parts of the country. Following this dream, he initiated an NGO by the name SEWA in the year 2014 (November) along with six other like-minded friends and started their endeavor with a small step in the field of social entrepreneurship. SEWA stands for Socio-Economic Cultural Educational Research & Development Organization registered under the Societies Registration Act, Act XXI of 1860.

With SEWA, Bibek focuses on organising training camps for local youths & women, in urban, semi-urban & mostly rural areas. The camps are for imparting training on productive activities to provide alternate livelihood avenues through setting up of Small Scale Industry (SSI) units .

and mentoring them to become business entrepreneurs.

He has also been closely associated with North East School of Technical Studies (NESTS), and Bibsikha LLP. With his ventures Bibek has made a significant impact in the community and looks to promote local talent and organisations.
