The BJP on Sunday strongly disapproved of the move that Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik would join the State Assembly’s monsoon session starting from July 2 through virtual mode as he would be on a foreign tour.
In a tweet, BJP State president Samir Mohanty expressed concern over the decision and stated that it is not acceptable as it is against the democratic spirit.
“The Chief Minister could have planned the tour much before or after the Assembly session as the important full-fledged State Budget would be presented in this session. It is all about respecting and understanding the importance of the Budget Session and rules and business of the Assembly,” Mohanty said and questioned the prudence of the Chief Minister’s absence from the legislature.
However, in his reaction, BJD Rajya Sabha member Amar Patnaik said the CM’s foreign tour even during an Assembly session is welcome as it is meant for the State’s development.
