BJP responsible for murder of Udaipur tailor- Karan Mahara

Tuesday, 05 July 2022 | PNS | DEHRADUN

The Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Karan Mahara has alleged that the BJP got tailor Kanahiya Lal murdered in Udaipur in an attempt to polarise the electorate of Rajasthan ahead of Vidhan Sabha elections in the state.

He claimed that the relationship of the murderers of the Kanahiya Lal with the BJP and senior leader Gulab Chand Kataira has been established now after which the tone and tenor of the BJP leaders on the issue has changed. The PCC chief was addressing a press conference at Congress Bhawan here on Monday. He said that the Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot was the first person to welcome the decision of the government to send National Investigation Agency (NIA) to Rajasthan in the Kanahiya Lal murder case. Mahara demanded a judicial probe in the sensational murder case which created communal tension in the country. He said that recent arrest of the head of IT cell of BJP in Kashmir, Talib by security agencies for his link with terrorists also exposes the plan of the BJP. Showing a picture of Talib with Union home minister Amit Shah, the PCC president said that the home minister and the BJP should explain their position to the country on the issue. Demanding apology from the BJP, he said that the BJP always tries to polarise the society ahead of the elections. He said that the recent comment made by the Supreme Court (SC) on Nupur Sharma that her comment has set the nation on fire and that she should seek an apology underlies the concern of the people of the country. Mahara said that the government should reply as to why Sharma who is getting a ‘Y’ category security cover is evading the court.

The PCC president added that the BJP always tries to polarise the electorate ahead of the elections and Pulwama attack is an example of this. Mahara said that the top BJP leaders including the Prime Minister raised storm on the Muslim University issue just ahead of the assembly elections. He said that neither Congress nor former chief minister Harish Rawat had assured anything on Muslim University. In response to a question, Mahara said that if Harish Rawat decides to take the issue of Muslim university to court then the Congress party would stand with him.

The PCC president said that recently some youngsters belonging to an organisation had ransacked the office of former president of Congress party Rahul Gandhi in Wayanad in Kerala after which Gandhi had termed this attack as an act of desperation and anger by some children. He said that this humane approach of Congress leader was shown by a TV channel in a manner that Gandhi is terming the murderers of Kanahiya Lal of Udaipur as children. Mahara said that the IT cell of BJP and its leaders spread this fake and mischievous news which proves that the BJP in connivance with some media houses are trying to malign the image of Congress and its leaders as part of a conspiracy.
