Haryana revises school timings for Winters

Chandigarh: In wake of the continuous drop in the day’s temperature, school timings in Haryana have been revised with effect from December 1. Directorate of School Education, Haryana on Wednesday announced the new timings which are 0930 hrs to 1530 hrs for the schools taking classes in a single shift and 7.55 am to 1230 pm for the morning shift and 12.40 pm hrs to 5.15 pm for the afternoon shift for schools taking classes in double shifts. The timings will remain unchanged for teachers, and other school staff.

Hry BKU calls off roadblock protest

Chandigarh: Farmer’s union Bhartiya Kisan Union (BKU) in Haryana on Wednesday backed off from a proposed protest on Thursday by blocking the GT Road, after assurances from Haryana Home Minister Anil Vij about withdrawing all cases registered against farmers during the agitation against now-repealed farm laws. Gurnam Singh Chaduni, who leads a faction of the BKU, said Vij had invited a union delegation for talks earlier in the day. “We have been told that many of the agitation cases have already been withdrawn while the process has been initiated to withdraw remaining isolated cases too. The Home Minister has given directions to the officers in this regard. We have been assured that no action will be taken against the associates of farmer agitation too if any cases are pending against them.” The home minister directed the officials to withdraw 32 previous cases too, said Chaduni.

 Applications for recruitment of PPSC chairman till Dec 14

Chandigarh: Punjab Government has invited applications to fill up the post of Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) chairman. The Personnel Department spokesperson said that eminent persons, having impeccable integrity, high caliber, and administrative experience can apply for the post of PPSC chairman till December 14, 2022. A search committee, headed by the Chief Secretary, has been formed which will be considered by the High Empowered Committee chaired by the Chief Minister after shortlisting the names from the applications received. The spokesperson added that no civil, criminal, administrative or any other proceeding should be pending against the applicant, and should have minimum of 10 years of working experience under the Central or the State Government. The age of the applicant should be less than 62 years as on January 1, 2023.
 
Jai Inder Kaur extends support to protesting farmers

Patiala: All India Jatt Mahasabha’s women president and BJP leader Jai Inder Kaur on Wednesday came out in the support of farm leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal and other farmers, protesting against the unkept promises of Bhagwant Mann led Punjab Government. Expressing solidarity with the farmers, Jai Inder said: “Our farmers, led by BKU leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal, have been sitting on a protest for the last eight-nine days at various places in Punjab and are raising their genuine demands that were earlier promised to them by the State Government which has now backtracked on all its promises,” she said.

Punjab Govt implements GIS technology for measuring roads

Chandigarh: Punjab Government has brought the latest GIS technology to measure roads. “Punjab Mandi Board measured the roads using GIS technology, after which, the 538 kms of rural link roads have been measured less out of 64,878 kms,” said the state Agriculture and Rural Development Minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal on Wednesday. He said that this will make a total difference of 538 kms of measurement in tenders compared to the road data book. The GIS technology will bring transparency in the cost of repair of roads and government expenditure will also be reduced, he added.
