PGIMER Physiotherapists celebrated ‘World Physiotherapy Day’

Chandigarh: Physiotherapists of PGIMER celebrated ‘World Physiotherapy Day’ on Thursday which is the foundation day of “World Confederation for Physical Therapists”. The World Physical Therapy Day hails its importance from the fact that it is the date on which WCPT was founded in 1951 and is an opportunity for Physical Therapists from all over the world to raise awareness about the crucial contribution their profession makes in improving the quality of life, functionality and mobility of people. The day stands for the unity and solidarity of the Physical Therapy community from 105 countries around the world. It is an Opportunity to recognize the work done for the patients and community by the Physical Therapists. This year Physiotherapists at PGIMER organized a one day hands on workshop on “Kinesio-taping” on 8th of September for Physiotherapy students and professionals.  Upendra.N.Goswami, Superintendent Physiotherapist PGIMER was the resource person for the workshop. He has emphasized on the role of kinesio-taping in prevention and management of musculoskeletal and sports injuries. In all more than 50 Physiotherapy students and professionals participated in the workshop.

Himachal CM congratulates Police Department

Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur on Thursday congratulated the State Police Department for being ranked as the second best in the country after Odisha in tracing kidnapping/abduction victims and missing persons, as per 2021 data of National Crime Records Bureau. He said that Himachal Pradesh was a peaceful State with very low crime rate as compared to other neighbouring States, adding that the State Government has strengthened the police department and new technologies were introduced to track the culprits. Thakur said that hundreds of posts of police personnel of different categories have been filled during the last four and half years and several police posts and police stations have been opened to ensure effective policing and to maintain law and order. He said that as many as 350 vehicles have been provided to the Police Department by the State Government to ensure effective mobility of the Force. In addition to this, Rs. 300 crore has been spent on creating effective infrastructure and modernization of the Police Force, he added.

Volvo bus service started from Patti to Chandigarh

Chandigarh:
Fulfilling the long-pending demand for a direct AC bus service from the border area to Chandigarh, Punjab Transport Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar on Thursday flagged off the AC Volvo bus from Patti (in Tarn Taran) to Chandigarh. The bus will ply at 4.30 am from Patti and reach Chandigarh at 10.00 am via Amritsar, Jalandhar. The return journey through the same route from Chandigarh will be at 5.40 pm and will reach Patti around 10.30 pm.

 African swine fever: 735 pigs culled in Punjab

Chandigarh:
Punjab Animal Husbandry Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar on Wednesday said 735 pigs have been culled in four African swine fever-affected districts of Patiala, Fatehgarh Sahib, SBS Nagar and Fazilka.  He said a total 471 swine in Patiala, 68 in Fatehgarh Sahib, 176 in SBS Nagar and 20 in Fazilka have been culled. ''The Punjab government has announced a compensation policy for the culling of swine and it will be given only for the culling done by the department within the infected zone of one km radius of the epicentre notified by the department,'' said the minister in a statement. He said the fever has been found in the swine samples from Talwandi Aklia village of Mansa and this area has been notified as an infected zone. He said after confirmation from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), National High Security Animal Disease Institute, Bhopal, the department has strictly enforced restrictions and declared the area up to one kilometre from the epicenter as infected zone and one to 10 km area as surveillance zone.

PVB registers corruption case against Xen, SDE, JE of Water Supply Dept

: The Punjab Vigilance Bureau on Thursday registered a corruption case against Gurpreet Singh, Executive Engineer, Water Supply and Sanitation Department, Abohar, Vijay Kumar, Sub-Divisional Engineer, Subhash Chandra JE, Gurnam Singh Contractor, gram panchayat committee president and Sarpanch Baj Singh Mammukheda and Sohan Lal Panchayat Secretary for causing financial loss of Rs. 5,98,312 to the state exchequer during construction of water works in the village Mammukheda, Fazilka district. A spokesman of the VB said this case has been registered after a vigilance enquiry against the accused. He informed that during the investigation it was found that the quantity of cement plaster used during the construction of this water works was found to be 39.51 percent less than the required amount as per the report received after analysis. The payment of Rs. 5,98,312 in this regard has resulted in financial loss to the government as the quality of this cement plaster was not as per specifications, he added.

Haryana Teacher Eligibility Test-2022 to be held on Nov 12, 13

: Haryana Teacher Eligibility Test-2022 will be organised by Haryana Board of School Education, Bhiwani on November 12-13. Permission has been received from Haryana Government in this regard and the process of registration will begin soon, Chairman, Haryana School Education Board, Jagbir Singh said  on the 54th Foundation Day of the Board on Thursday. 

Haryana Vigilance Bureau arrests HSVP Estate Officer in bribery case

Chandigarh: Haryana State Vigilance Bureau on Thursday arrested Estate Officer of HSVP Deepak Kumar in a corruption case. He was posted in Kurukshetra with additional charge of Karnal. Bureau spokesperson informed that a Junior Engineer of HSVP Praduman was arrested on 31.08.2022 for accepting a bribe of Rs. 50,000 in lieu of issuing completion certificate to the complainant. During the investigation, an amount of Rs. 19.94 lakhs was seized from the house of the junior engineer. Also, evidence came on record that the bribe amount was being collected from the people at large in lieu of issuing completion certificates in conspiracy with the accused estate officer. Accordingly, the accused Estate Officer has been arrested.
