Launching a scathing attack on the Congress, Chhattisgarh BJP leader Brijmohan Agrawal said the voters of Bhanupratappur will teach a lesson to it for sullying the image of "son of the soil" and BJP candidate Brahmanand Netam.
“People here will not tolerate that their brother, their son, is charged with such humiliating allegations,” he told reporters in Bhanupratappur.
The BJP leader alleged that the Congress government was responsible for reducting the tribal quota from 32 to 20 percent in Chhattisgarh. It also sold tribal land in the region and hence the people will definitely teach the Congress a lesson.
The by-election in tribal-dominated Bhanupratappur was called after the death Congress MLA and Deputy Speaker Manoj Singh Mandavi.
The election will be held on December 5 and counting will be done on December 8.
Congress candidate Savitri Mandavi and BJP’s Brahmanand Netam are locked in a direct fight.
