Brother files petition to seek CBI inquiry on death of SI

Saturday, 22 January 2022 | PNS | Ranchi

A petition has been filed before the Jharkhand High Court to seek CBI inquiry into the death of suspended Sub-Inspector Lalji Yadav.

Yadav posted at Nawabazar police station of Palamu district allegedly committed suicide on January 11 at the police station.

His brother Sanjeet Kumar Yadav, who filed the criminal writ petition through advocate Vijay Ranjan Sinha, has alleged involvement of the sand and stone crusher mafias behind the death of Lalji. The petitioner said that these mafias have the patronage of top police officials and politicians hence Jharkhand Police can’t fairly investigate the case.

Yadav said that his brother was put under suspension by Palamu SP Chandan Kumar Sinha on January 6 to pressurize him for his action against mafias. He said that the SP demanded a heavy amount to revoke his suspension.

The petition sought proper security for him and his family members. He alleged that his brother became the victim of the powerful lobby.

He has mentioned Palamu SP, District Transport Officer (DTO) Anwar Hussain, DSP Surjeet Kumar, and other officials as the party in this case. The controversy started following a dispute between the Palamu district transport officer and the deceased officer on the issue of seizure of some trucks.  The DTO alleged Yadav misbehaved with him. On this, the SP put him under suspension. The CID has taken up an investigation and the investigation team visited the crime scene also.

The 2012 batch police officer, deceased, was a native of Sahebganj..
