The Congress on Friday took out a march to the Raj Bhawan here to protest against issues of inflation, the Agnipath scheme, GST on food products and unemployment.
Earlier, the Congress leaders and workers staged a day-long 'dharna' at Ambedkar Chowk.
The protest followed a Congress call for nationwide demonstrations. PCC chief Mohan Markam led the protest while Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel addressed the gathering.
The Congress activists carried empty LPG cylinders to denounce the skyrocketing prices of fossil fuel, diesel, petrol and cooking gas.
Baghel said the poor were the worst affected by inflation.
He raised the issue of unemployment and hit out at the Modi government for recruiting ‘Agniveers’ as a short term and temporary staff in the military.
From Ambedkar Chowk, Congress leaders and activists marched to Raj Bhawan, where a delegation submitted a memorandum to the Governor.
Later, the Chief Minister proceeded for Delhi to show solidarity with party leader Rahul Gandhi who was detained by the police after a protest in the capital.
