The Chhattisgarh government has acted sternly against the sale of substandard seeds, fertilizers and pesticide. Show cause notices have been served to vendors selling items of poor quality.
The Agriculture Department is testing samples of chemical fertilizers, seeds and pesticides from the vendors.
A press communiqué said district-level officers are raiding suspects and collecting samples of seeds, fertilizers and pesticides which are tested for quality control.
In the Kharif season, 99 samples of seeds and 109 samples of chemical fertilizers have been found substandard. Their sales have been banned with immediate effect.
The Agriculture Department has issued show cause notices to the concerned firms and summoned them.
The Additional Director, Agriculture (Fertilizer), S.C. Padam, said the target was to collect 5,000 samples of seeds, 3,000 samples of fertilizers and 500 samples of plant protection drugs.
Teams have collected 2,907 samples of seeds so far.
Likewise, 1,946 samples of chemical fertilizers have been collected from various organizations.
