Case registered against BJP activists

Wednesday, 30 November 2022 | NIMAI CHARAN SAHU | SAMBALPUR

The Padampur police on Tuesday registered a case against BJP activists for obstructing and attacking officials of State GST while discharging their duties during the raids on business firms of Gobarddhan Agrawal and his family members on Monday.

“Since the GST officials have not mentioned any name in the FIR, we have registered a mass case. Basing on the CCTV footage, news coverage in electronic media and VDO shootings of the incident, we will book persons in particular later,” Padampur PS IIC added. “As it is a sensitive case and names of elected representatives come, we will deal it carefully without fear or favour,” Rajendra Sial said.

Meanwhile, Bargarh BJD MLA Debesh Acharya said that when IT raids were going on in Padampur, nobody from the BJD created any disturbance. But when the GST raids were conducted in the houses of businessmen of the same town, BJP people numbering hundreds not only created disturbances, they didn’t even hesitate to misbehave and attack a lady officer and others of the team,” Acharya said.

The IT team from Chhattisgarh has left Padampur without divulging any information to anyone. The GST team has also kept the outcome of its raid secret.
