Centre hatched conspiracy with L-G to settle Rohingyas in Delhi: AAP

Thursday, 18 August 2022 | Staff Reporter | New Delhi

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Government on Wednesday lashed out at the Centre for hatching a conspiracy with the Lieutenant-Governor (L-G) Vinai Kumar Saxena to permanently settle Rohingyas in Delhi by bypassing the elected Government of Delhi and Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said that if the Centre wants to settle Rohingyas, they should take them to a BJP-ruled States, not Delhi, as the AAP Government will oppose this move with all its might. Addressing the media, Sisodia said, “The file noting this issue clearly shows how officers were instructed to send the file to the L-G, bypassing the elected Government of Delhi.

“The Centre specifically instructed officers of the Delhi Government, Delhi Police to keep Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Ministers in the dark and settle Rohingyas in the city behind their back. The Central Government made a U-turn on the issue and blamed it on the Delhi Government after the hue and cry after Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs, Hardeep Puri's tweet.” “Prime Minister Modi wants to make a vote bank out of Rohingyas just like the Congress made a vote bank out of Bangladeshis. The PM says he has no money for free education-healthcare, but he is ready to spend crores on Rohingyas.

Kashmiri Pandits get killed every day but PM Modi has adopted Rohingyas like 'ghar-jamais'. Puri claims Delhi Police will provide 24x7 security to Rohingyas; the PM is even planning to give them permanent shops. If the Centre wants to settle Rohingyas, they should take them to a BJP-ruled state; the Delhi Government will oppose this move with all its might," Sisodia added.

Meanwhile, the AAP MLA and chief spokesperson Saurabh Bhardwaj on Wednesday slammed BJP Government over remarks of Union Minister Hardeep Puri on settling Rohingyas by giving them EWS flats and police protection. Bhardwaj said, “This is a threat to security of whole country including Delhiites and we will not allow them to settle in national Capital.” “Prime Minister Narendra Modi on one hand claims that there is no money for free education and healthcare for the people of the country, on the other hand he is ready to spend crores of rupees on Rohingyas. The Modi Government has no will to protect the people of its country, Kashmiri Pandits are being killed every day in Centrally-Administered Jammu and Kashmir.

Congress Governments made Bangladeshis their vote bank by settling them here over years, now the BJP Government wants to use these Rohingyas for their own purpose,” he claimed. “Home Minister Amit Shah earlier said that the PDP settled Rohingyas and later the BJP came into Government with PDP, even after that the Rohingyas were not expelled from there.

According to BJP leaders, Rohingyas have increased from 40 thousand to 5 lakh in the last few years, it is clear that BJP has settled Rohingyas across the country. The Supreme Court had asked the Government to deport Rohingyas, yet they have not deported them.

The BJP is bringing Rohingyas to the country for its own benefit. Why should the Delhi Government invest Delhi's taxpayer's money by making a detention centre? The Central Government should deport,” Bhardwaj added.
