Centre wants to demolish 53 temples in Delhi: AAP

Thursday, 23 June 2022 | Staff Reporter | NEW DELHI

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Wednesday accused the Modi Government of seeking permission to demolish 53 temples in the national capital. According to the AAP, the Modi Government has sent a letter to the Delhi Government, stating it needs the Religious Committee’s “permission” for the demolition of these 53 temples.

Citing the list of the 53 temples at a press conference, the AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh on Wednesday said 19 of them are located in Kasturba Nagar, 10 in Netaji Nagar, eight in Sarojni Nagar, seven in Sriniwaspuri, five in Tyagraj Nagar, three in Nauroji Nagar and one in Mohammadpur area in the national capital.  “This is the real face of the BJP. This document is the proof of how big anti-Hindu they are,” Singh said, showing a copy of the letter sent to the Delhi government by the land and development office which comes under the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.

“The list of the temples sought to be demolished in Delhi includes those of lord Shiv, lord Ram, lord Krishna, and Hanuman, and goddess Durga and Sai Baba. They are not sparing any of them,” he said, and sought an answer from the BJP.

Terming the BJP as an anti Hindu party, Singh said that BJP portrays itself as a Hindu party and crusader of Hindu community, but its real face is exposed after it is set to demolish 53 temples in national capital.

He called the BJP a party of “hypocrites” and demanded that Prime Minister Modi and the BJP’s Delhi unit president Adesh Gupta apologize to the people for the Centre’s move to demolish 53 temples in the city.

“Your politics in the entire country is based on fake drama in the name of temples. No god or goddess has been spared, and that’s why I am here to expose the Prime Minister, BJP Delhi State President Adesh Gupta and the entire BJP.

The reality is that they are against the Hindu religion. They should apologise to the citizens of Delhi,” said Singh.
