Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand CMs exhort tribals to tread path of development

Thursday, 11 August 2022 | PNS | Ranchi

In the presence of Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel and Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, the two-day Jharkhand Tribal Festival-2022, which was organised at Morhabadi Maidan, Ranchi, concluded today with a colorful finish. In this festival, which lasted for two days, tribal artists from different parts of the country, with their talent and performance, worked to identify tribal art-culture, tradition, folk song-dance and music in front of the country and the world.

At the same time, anthropologists, tribal experts and researchers from the country and abroad, churned in detail on the tribal philosophy, lifestyle and various challenges being faced by them today.

On the occasion, Chief Minister Hemant Soren said that it is because of tribals only water, forest and land are left. But, efforts are being made continuously to snatch it too. No one cares how the tribals survived. Just in the race of development, water, forest and land are being tampered with. This is the reason that today we are getting surrounded by the formidable problem of global warming. If the world is to be saved, the tribals have to be saved, he said.

The CM said that today we should take a pledge that the identity of the tribal society and their voice should reach far and wide. However, many challenges will also come in this. There will also be struggles to be faced. But the tribal community never gets distracted. We will surely be able to meet this challenge and emerge victorious from the struggles.

The CM asked the tribal community to come forward. “The government stands with you at every step. The government has brought many schemes for your development and welfare in all fields including social, economic, educational, health, employment and business. You go ahead and join these schemes, so that along with you, the state can also achieve a place in development with a different identity,” he said.

Soren said that for the first time after the formation of Jharkhand State, a grand event was organized as Jharkhand Tribes Festival. Not only Jharkhand but tribal community artists from different states of the country won the hearts of everyone with their performance in the ceremony. This is a beginning. Now every year the Tribal Festival will be organized in a more spectacular way. Our effort is to give a different identity to the art and culture of the tribal community in the country and the world. He also thanked the anthropologists, experts and researchers from the country and abroad on this occasion, who tried to bring out the various characteristics of the tribal community through the presentation.

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said in his address that he bowed to the brave land of Jharkhand. “The brave men of Jharkhand fought for the independence of the country as well as the pride and honour of Jharkhand. Baghel said that the day of August 9 is important for two reasons. First, the day of 9 August is celebrated as World Tribal Day and the second reason is that the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi gave the slogan "Do or Die" in the form of August Revolution on 9th August itself. He said that the tribal leadership has never been behind in protecting the country. The tribal heroes of Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh have given their all to free the country from the slavery of the British. He congratulates Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren  for demanding from the Central government to declare August 9 as a holiday.

He said that Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh are the states where forests serve to provide oxygen to the entire country. The cost and importance of oxygen is understood by all of us during the global pandemic corona period. Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh not only work to provide oxygen but also energy to the country.

Baghel said that the culture of tribes is one of the ancient cultures. “Together we all need to move forward while preserving the Adi culture of the tribal community,” he said. Baghel extended warm greetings and best wishes to Chief Minister Hemant Soren on his birthday. He congratulated the Jharkhand government for organizing a two-day "Jharkhand Tribal Festival-2022" on the occasion of World Tribal Day.

Also, the Chhattisgarh Chief Minister was greeted in the Chhattisgarhi language on the occasion.

On this occasion, women hockey players of Jharkhand, Salima Tete, Nikki Pradhan and Sangeeta Kumari, who played an important role in winning the bronze medal in the Commonwealth Games 2022 held in Birmingham, were honoured by Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel and Chief Minister Hemant Soren. On the occasion, in a colorful cultural programme, the songs of Nagpuri singer Monika Mundu and artists of Chhattisgarh enthralled the guests and attendees with their traditional dance.

Ministers Champai Soren, Joba Manjhi, Banna Gupta, Mithilesh Thakur, Hafeezul Hasan, Rajya Sabha MP Mahua Maji, Jharkhand Congress President Rajesh Thakur, MLAs Savita Mahto, Lambodar Mahto, Anoop Singh, Neha Shilpi Tirkey, Amba Prasad, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Rajiv Arun Ekka, Secretary to Chief Minister Vinay Kumar Choubey, Secretary, Scheduled Tribes, Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes Welfare Department, KK Soan, Tribal Welfare Commissioner Mukesh Kumar, Deputy Commissioner Ranchi Rahul Kumar Sinha and other senior officials, folk artists from different states including Jharkhand and other dignitaries and a large number of spectators were present.
