The Coal India Limited (CIL) Chairman Pramod Agarwal on Saturday hinted at a hike in coal prices after discussion with stakeholders such as Central Coalfield Limited, Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL) and Central Mine Planning and Design Institute Limited (CMPDIL). He held a review meeting with the stakeholders during his visit to the State.
Agarwal first of all chaired a review meeting of Central Coalfields Limited (CCL) at its headquarters in Ranchi on Saturday. The agenda of the meeting was to increase supply of coal to the power plants, situated in various states of the country. He also reviewed the implementation of the ERP in the company so that the stakeholders get benefitted from this new system.
CMD, CCL PM Prasad, CMD, CMPDIL, Manoj Kumar and other senior officials of both companies were present during the meeting. Area General Managers were connected via video conferencing.
The Chairman reviewed the performance of the company and issued necessary instructions to increase the production in the remaining period of the ongoing financial year 2021-22. He expressed confidence that CCL will attain the desired target of the current fiscal and asked each Area GMs to meet their targets of respective areas. He also asked the management of CCL to ensure uninterrupted supply of coal to the power plants. CMD CCL, Prasad briefed him on performance and related issues.
After that the Chairman reviewed the performance of CMPDI, in Ranchi. CMD, CMPDI, Manoj Kumar briefed about the performance of CMPDI including Implementation of ERP in CMPDI, Status of validation study by Drone, Status of E-auction and Cost Comparison between mining method with blasting and without blasting (with Xcentric Rippers) and other related issues.
Agrawal praised the work done by CMPDI in implementation of First Mile Connectivity (FMC) projects of CIL. Apart from various other decisions taken during the meeting, he directed CMPDI to complete the exercise under the 6 modules of ERP at the earliest for making it more effective. Concerned HoDs were directed to own the respective modules.
Earlier on Friday, Agarwal reviewed BCCL’s coal production record and said that it lags behind production targets but hoped that it would be able to reach its set target. He also asked the district administration to initiate steps for shifting of people from fire hit zones on priority basis. He said while interacting with Dhanbad Deputy Commissioner (DC), Sandeep Singh. Singh is also Managing Director, Jharia Rehabilitation and Development Authority (JRDA) that has responsibilities of implementation of Jharia Action Plan.
