CM: Speed up relief to kin of deceased Corona Warriors

Thursday, 07 July 2022 | PNS | Lucknow

As Uttar Pradesh recorded 345 fresh cases of novel coronavirus infection, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that district-wise review of the applications related to relief for the families of the Corona Warriors, who died prematurely due to COVID-19, should be carried out by the Chief Minister's Office.

“In the districts where the applications are found pending, action will be taken against the officials concerned. This is a sensitive matter. Such cases should be given priority,” Yogi said.

He said that due to the successful implementation of the policy of track, test, treat and vaccination in the state, the spread of coronavirus infection was under check as 345 new cases were found in the state in the last 24 hours.

“The positivity rate is 0.45 per cent, which speaks volumes about the effective steps taken by the government to control the spread of this infection,” the chief minister said during a review meeting of Team 9 here on Wednesday.

He said that caution should be taken in view of the increase in new cases of coronavirus infection. He said the functioning of medical equipment, proper availability of doctors and paramedical staff in all hospitals should be thoroughly examined.

The chief minister was informed by officials that 510 COVID-19 patients had recovered after successful treatment.

At present, there are 2,401 active cases in the state out of which over 2,200 are taking treatment at home.

The chief minister said that due to the apathy of the system and lack of infrastructure facilities, more than 40 paramedical training centres of the Health department in the state were closed since 1989. He said keeping in view the need of health services and for providing all necessary infrastructure facilities, the state government was starting the operation of these training centres again.

Yogi said nine nursing schools were going to start function from July 15, while 35 ANM training centres would start operation in August.

Meanwhile, scaling new heights in the ongoing vaccination drive, Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday crossed the landmark of achieving 100 per cent first dose coverage to children in the 15-17 age category.

Strengthening its fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, the Uttar Pradesh government is providing vaccination cover to all children in a time-bound manner. So far, over 2,64,31,699 vaccine doses have been administered to children in the age group of 15-17. With this, 100 per cent teenagers in this age category have received the first dose and over 88.5 per cent of them are fully vaccinated.

Similarly, over 1,44,95,214 vaccine doses have been administered to children in the age group of 12-14 in the state. In this category, about 97.4 per cent children received the first dose and over 73.7 per cent have been fully vaccinated.

As per data from the CoWIN portal updated till 12:30 pm on Wednesday, at least 34.2 crore out of the total 198 crore doses administered in the country are from UP.

Committed to providing additional protection cover to the people, Uttar Pradesh started administering booster shots (precaution dose) from January 10. Over 36.38 lakh ‘precaution doses’ have been administered in the state so far.

To ensure vaccine cover to every eligible individual, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has asked the officials concerned to ensure adequate availability of vaccine doses in the state and encourage the eligible beneficiaries to take the vaccine shot.
