The State Government on Thursday announced a Rs 70-crore development plan for the Chandi Temple in Cuttack city. The plan was approved by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
The Works Department made a presentation before the Chief Minister regarding the project, which would be undertaken under the Integrated Development of Heritage, Monuments and Tourist Destination scheme of the 5T initiative and completed within a year.
As per the project plan prepared by the Odisha Bridge Construction Corporation (OBCC), a stone boundary wall with four gates would be constructed around the premises of the temple. A Yajna Mandap, a Chandipath Mandap, a Hanuman temple, a discourse hall and a kitchen would also be constructed in the temple area.
The entire surface of the temple premises would be covered with Khondalite stones and illuminated with light and creation of landscapes. CCTV cameras would be installed to ensure safety of devotees.
S Yatri Niwas would be constructed. There would also be facilities of cloak room, drinking water supply, prasad sale counter and parking space. A shopping plaza with 18 rooms would be constructed for the displaced shopkeepers.
