Strep: Jharkhand is to be made nursery of Football: Hemant Soren

Chief Minister Hemant Soren has written a letter expressing his gratitude to the President of All India Football Federation, Praful Patel. The CM said, “I would like to extend my heartfelt congratulations and thanks to the entire AIFF family for inviting me as the Chief Guest to participate in the AFC Women's Asia Cup 2022. AFC Women's Asia Cup 2022 is one of the biggest international football tournaments. Hosting such a big championship for the second time in recent times, the development of football in the country is a result of the efforts and foresight of the All India Football Federation.”

The CM said that due to the situation of Covid-19 spread in Jharkhand, he would not be able to be physically present. He congratulated all the teams and players participating in this tournament and extended best wishes to the entire AIFF team for the successful conduct of Asian Football Championship 2022.

Soren said that when it comes to Jharkhand, sports is an integral part of life here. The players of the State are performing well, especially in the field of football. “I feel proud to lead a State, which has produced some of the best football players for the country and still does. Seventeen-year-old Sumati Kumari, a football player from Jharkhand's Gumla, has been selected for the Senior National Asian Football Cup. Sumati is a striker player. Indian Football Association has selected Sumati for the Senior National Asian Cup. Sumati was one of the potential under-17 daughters of the state who were given nutritious food and training through special camps in 2020,” he said.

The CM said that it is our pleasure to host the Indian women's senior football team in Jharkhand for the preparatory camp for the AFC Women's Asia Cup 2022 between August-October 2021. “We are currently hosting the Under-17 national women's team in Jharkhand, as they prepare for the Under-17 FIFA Women's World Cup. I hope both our women's teams will do their best in these championships being held in the country,” he added.

The CM said that the SAHAAY scheme has been started with the objective of giving a platform to the hidden sports talent of Jharkhand, so that the best players can be selected. The government is committed to make the state a nursery for football players. The government is particularly serious about the development of football.
