Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan along with NCC cadet and mountaineer Smt. Jyoti Ratre planted Neem, Banyan and Moulshree saplings in the Smart City Garden at Shyamala Hills.
Along with Chief Minister Chouhan, NCC cadets of IEC University Bhopal, Abhishek Kumar Singh, Jitendra Prakash Shrivastava, Nitesh Kushwaha, Gaurav Yadav and Kumari Jhilmil Kushwaha planted saplings. University's Dean Student Welfare Renu Yadav and Prof Sonu Lal were present. Various community development activities are conducted by NCC cadets along with plantation, cleanliness. Along with mountaineer Jyoti Ratre, Mumtaz Khan also planted saplings. Ratre is the most senior woman in the country to climb Mount Elbrus, the highest peak in the continent of Europe.
She has also unfurled the tricolour on Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest peak of the continent of Africa.
Importance of plants
Banyan has religious and medicinal importance. According to Ayurveda, the treatment of many diseases is possible with the help of Banyan leaves, bark etc. Consumption of its decoction boosts the immunity. Rich in antibiotic elements, Neem is known as the ultimate medicine. Moulshree is a medicinal tree, it has been used in Ayurveda for centuries.
