Congress hails SC nod to stop MISA pension

Saturday, 01 October 2022 | Staff Reporter | RAIPUR

The Congress welcomed a Supreme Court ruling on Friday upholding the Chhattisgarh government move to stop pensions for those jailed under the Maintenance of Internal Security Act (MISA) and Defence of India Rules (DIR) during the 1975-77 Emergency.

PCC Communication Wing Chairman Sushil Anand Shukla said the ruling proves that the erstwhile Raman Singh government threw away over Rs 100 crore of money which belonged to people in providing pension to people who didn’t deserve it.

The Chhattisgarh government stopped the Emergency pension right after Bhupesh Baghel became the Chief Minister.
