Thursday, 23 June 2022 | Staff Reporter | RAIPUR

There is a need to avoid contaminated water during the rainy season to keep skin related diseases away, an expert said on Wednesday.

Contaminated water can cause problems of ringworm, scabies and itching, said Dr. Sanjay Shukla, Assistant Professor, Government Ayurvedic College, Raipur.

Dr Shukla said with the arrival of rainy season, a large number of people was exposed to contaminated water. People prefer home remedies, increasing the risk of serious infection.

Generally, skin related diseases occur due to increasing humidity, sweating and wearing wet clothes while the presence of harmful bacteria leads to problems like         ringworm, scabies, itching and red rash on the upper part of the skin.

Getting wet in rain,  wearing wet clothes for long hours, using dirty towels, unbalanced diet and wearing synthetic clothes can also cause the problem, he said.
