Crimes on rise in Dhenkanal

Wednesday, 06 July 2022 | PNS | DHENKANAL

Though cases of theft, burglary and drugs peddling have been rising in the district headquarters town of Dhenkanal, the local police seem to be silent as no exemplary action has been taken in any of the case.

A few days back, a series of loots took place in the roadside shops near the Dhenkanal Autonomous College, but the miscreants are yet to be brought to book.

Similarly, an attempt was made to loot the travellers in a bus near Sundarikhal in Kapilash road. Fortunately some locals overpowered the miscreants and foiled the loot bid.

One Surendra Prasad Nayak (47), a resident of Dakhinakali locality, has filed a police complaint that his auto rickshaw bearing registration number OR06J9704 was stolen on June 26 night from Mahabir Bazar. He had parked the vehicle in front of his betel shop. Though a week has passed since the incident took place, the police are still clueless about the miscreants. It is also alleged that the police are not able to rein in drug peddlers who are quite active in the town these days.
