Cyber cops book Anubhav on Varsha’s plaint

The Cyber police here on Wednesday booked Kendrapada MP and actor Anubhav Mohanty under Section 509 of IPC and Section 67 of IT Act on the basis of a complaint filed by his estranged wife and actress Varsha Priyadarshini.

Varsha in her complaint alleged that her husband is repeatedly engaged in tarnishing her image on social media. She had made a similar complaint at a local police station last week.

Married in 2014, the star couple had been engaged in a
fierce legal tussle for the last two years, ever since Anubhav moved
to a Delhi court seeking a divorce from Varsha in 2019. Several cases
of domestic violence, restitution of marriage, maintenance, alimony,
accommodation, and income filed by the alienated couple are pending in
several courts in the city now. But things started escalating last
week when Anubhav uploaded some videos on his YouTube channel.

In one video, Anubhav has accused Varsha of spoiling
his career in politics and cinema and ruining his family life for
which, he had been contemplating to take extreme decisions. In the
last video, Anubhav has alleged that Varsha had been using different
surnames in obtaining Aadhar card, PAN card and Passport and filing
income tax returns. “Her surnames mismatch in each of her educational
certificates,” Anubhav has alleged in the video.

Taking strong exceptions to such attempts being made
to defame her in the public, Varsha in her protest complaint has
sought police interventions to restrain her estranged husband from
using social media in tarnishing her image and status in the public.
