Police have busted a gang involved in a broad daylight robbery near the City Station under the Dhanupali police station on June 3 by arresting seven persons.
The arrested accused were identified as Arjun Kumura, Balaram, Sagar Munda, Rinku Kumura, Hemanta Thipe Ranbida, Sambhu Thakur and Praveen Sa. “All are from Sambalpur district.
The gang had cash of Rs 1 lakh from the cash box of a businessman Shyam Sundar Dalmia and assaulted his family members. They also snatched a gold chain from a woman member of the family before fleeing from the spot.
Based on the complaint, Dhanupali police registered a case and began investigation under guidance of Sambalpur SP B Gangadhar.
Basing on intelligence inputs an electronic surveillance to work out clues in this case. “Steps are being taken to arrest three other persons involved in the case,” the SP said.
Police seized Rs. 30, 000 cash, five two wheelers, one Maruti Alto car, mobile phones from them. “Few of them are also involved in other grievous cases of the district,” the SP added.
