DDA approves redevelopment plan for AIIMS

The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) on Tuesday has approved a redevelopment plan for All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS).

The authority also approved a proposal to get first one of its kind E-Waste Management Park. The decision to this effect was taken at the Authority meeting chaired by Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena.

As per the statement released by the DDA, the Lieutenant Governor has cleared the redevelopment of the premier All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) as a World Class Medical University with augmented facilities and capacity, and enabled the concrete way-forward for setting up of a first of its kind E-Waste Management Park by providing land for it.  While informing about the

AIMMS redevelopment plan which would be spread in 79.73 hectare comprising of five land parcels for development of world class medical university and change of land use of 1.69 Ha of land from recreational including city park, district Park, community park to Public and semi Public for AIIMS falling in planning zone- ‘F’ aiming to give fillip to the healthcare facilities in the national capital. On the e-Waste Management Park, the DDA said that the authority has given final approval for change of Land Use for land measuring 21 acres from Residential-RD to Utility-U4 for setting up E-Waste Management Park at village Holambi Kalan, Narela Sub-city.

“The purpose of setting up E-waste management (Eco park) is management of e waste in Delhi through formal recycling, ensuring that all Waste Electronic and Electrical equipments (WEEE) is collected, stored, dismantled and recycled in an environmentally sound manner,” it said.“The activities in the park will target small and medium scale enterprises (SMEs) clusters involved in e-waste recycling. This will be first of its kind in Delhi,” it further stated. The Authority has also given final approval to a proposal for Change of Land Use of 0.6769 Ha land at Vasant Vihar, from Residential to Government (G2) allotted for Establishment of Headquarters for National Disaster Response Force (NDRF).

“The Authority held its meeting on 21.06.2022 at Raj Niwas under the chairmanship of the LG, Delhi who is also the Chairman of DDA and was attended by Manish Kumar Gupta, IAS, Vice Chairman, DDA, and other members of the Authority including Vijender Gupta MLA, Somnath Bharti and O P Sharma MLA.
