After a brief exchange of fire, the Delhi Police’s Special Cell in a joint operation with its counterpart force of Uttar Pradesh has nabbed a member of the Jitender Gogi-Deepak Boxer gang from outer Delhi's Narela Industrial Area.
The accused has been identified as Sandeep alias Bassi. He sustained a bullet injury in his leg during the encounter.
According to Jasmeet Singh, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Special Cell, on May 24, specific inputs were received that Sandeep would come to meet one of his associates near Shani Bazaar Crossing, Narela Industrial Area on bike.
“On May 25, a team of UP Special Task Force along with a special cell police team, acting on the inputs laid a trap.
About 5.00 AM when Sandeep was spotted near Shani Bazar Xing on his bike, he was signaled to stop by the police, but instead of stopping, he dropped the bike and fired three rounds towards the police teams,’ said the DCP.
“In retaliation, police team also fired in self defense in which Sandeep was got injured in his right leg on the knee. He was immediately rushed to Raja Harish Chander hospital for treatment and later on he was shifted to Safdarjung hospital for treatment,” said the DCP.“A total five rounds were fired from both sides. A semi-automatic pistol of .30 with three live cartridges was recovered from the possession of the accused,” said the DCP.
Sandeep is previously involved and arrested in four criminal cases including murder.
“During interrogation, it was revealed that he was presently wanted and absconding in six heinous crimes including murders, dacoity/robbery, assault and firing on police, abduction cases registered in Delhi, UP, Uttrakhand and Haryana,” said the DCP.
“Recently on April 18, Sandeep along with his associates had robbed cash from a petrol pump in Bhagwanpur near Haridwar.
In another sensational crime, Sandeep along with other associates had forcefully entered in the house of one Nirankaar on May 20 in Kankarkhera Meerut and pumped multiple bullets into his son Prayag who later on died in the hospital,” said the DCP. “On May 1, Sandeep with his associates had also robbed a bike from Yamuna Nagar in Haryana and on same day, using the robbed bike, he looted a petrol pump on gun point in the area,” said the DCP. “The gang members including Sandeep are also wanted in a case of assault and firing on police on May 13 in Daurala near Meerut when they had fired on the police team on being challenged by the police.
Two of their associates were caught by the police at spot but others had escaped from the spot by doing incessant firing on police,” said the DCP.
“The gangster Sandeep and his associates Atul and Sunny Kakran have been working with gang of Deepak Boxer (Gogi gang) for a few months. After the killing of Jitender alias Gogi in Rohini Court by the members of rival gang last year, Deepak Boxer is the leader of Gogi gang,” said police.
“Sandeep and his associates used to commit crime and execute the killings of the rivals in Delhi at directions of Deepak Boxer,” said the DCP adding that further investigation of case is in progress.
