Demands related to Anganwadis in Jharkhand will be fulfilled: Minister

Union Minister of State for Women and Child Development, Dr. Munjpara Mahendrabhai on Saturday presided over the regional meeting of aspirational districts of NITI Aayog in Ranchi where representatives of Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Odisha discussed strategies to make aspirational districts programme successful.  
Minister of Women, Child Development and Social Welfare of Jharkhand, Joba Majhi, Secretary, Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India, Indivar Pandey and Joint Secretary attended the meeting.
Mahendrabhai, in his address, assured Jharkhand to meet its demand related to Anganwadi centres. He said that right from Matri-Shishu Yojana, Nirbhay Fund, PM Matru Vandana Yojana and other schemes, the Center is giving priority to children and women. He said that the crèche facilities and new hostels for working women in government institutions are coming up.
"Today more than 12 lakh Anganwadi centers in the country have drinking water facilities, while more than 11 lakh toilets have been arranged. In Mudra Yojana, more than 60 per cent of the loans are given in the name of women. Today, in many states in the country, there is 50 per cent women's reservation in panchayats, this government has also given women the opportunity to study in Sainik Schools,” said the union minister.
Joba Majhi in her address said that 40 per cent of the children in Jharkhand are malnourished. She said that her government has paid special attention to provide nutritious food to children at the Anganwadi for children of 3-6 years.
She also drew the attention of the Union Minister towards central financial assistance to Jharkhand reduction to a significant level. She requested the minister to continue budgetary support to the Poshan Sakhi scheme to sustain 12,600 Anganwadi centers in the state.
Indivar Pandey, informed that the central government is working on three missions namely Mission Saksham Anganwadi and Poshan 2.0, Mission Shakti and Mission Vatsalya. Mission Saksham Anganwadi and Poshan 2.0 aims to ensure the nutritional needs of women and children.
He said that Mission Shakti aims at providing solutions for women's safety, rehabilitation and empowerment, and ensuring child protection and comprehensive child welfare and development under Mission Vatsalya. He said that aspirational districts should pay special attention to achieving the '2030 - Sustainable Development Goal' set by the United Nations in their districts.
The DC of Ranchi and Gumla made a presentation of the different works and projects undertaken for women and child welfare.
