It's time now for five senior IPS officers of Jharkhand to bask in the DG CRPF Commendation Disc and Certificates.
The names include Amol V Homker (IG Ops), Anoop Birtharay (DIG STF), Shivani Tewari (SP, Special Branch), Anjani Kumar Jha (SP Garhwa) and Anjani Anjan (SP Latehar).
The officers, awarded with the DG CRPF Commendation Disc and Certificate, are a part of a total of 42 recipients drawn from the CoBra and the CRPF. There are 33 others, who got DG Commendation Certificates.
Besides these Discs and Certificates there are 'heartiest congratulations' to all the awardees from the DG CRPF Kuldeep Singh.
SP Garhwa Anjani Kumar Jha said the DG CRPF Kuldiep Singh today reached Burha Pahar and patted the security forces and officials for their most arduous of tasks accomplished by freeing Burha Pahar from the clutches of the Maoists.
The Operation Octopus, which was a final assault on the Maoists was carried out on the Burha Pahar from September 4 to 9. Sources said it was a fight to the finish as the Maoists preferred to escape to die another day.
The highlight of this Operation Octopus was that there was no instance of the violation of Human Rights. The operation saw a huge support of the villagers which is a paradigm shift in the approach and attitude of the commoners towards the security forces.
Again the security forces never got any blow or jerk from the Maoists, which is in itself most unprecedented as any battle with the Maoists to regain the Burha Pahar in the past had witnessed stretchers out for the security forces or chopper landing there to lift the jawans gasping for life recalled a senior police officer requesting to remain unnamed here.
